Uranus Retrograde 2027: Dates, Shadow & Meaning

Uranus spends all of 2027 in Gemini, and it is retrograde for two separate 151-day stretches: the first ends on February 8, 2027, and the second begins on September 15, 2027. Each period has its own degrees, shadow dates and company, so they read quite differently.

The first period began on September 10, 2026 at 5°41′ Gemini and ends when Uranus turns direct at 1°40′ Gemini on February 8, 2027. Two days earlier, on February 6, 2027, an annular solar eclipse falls. Uranus is the planet of sudden change and breaking routine, and the eclipse lands right at the turn, so late winter may bring a clear sense of which changes you made last autumn actually hold up.

The pre-shadow for this period started on May 25, 2026 at 1°40′ Gemini. That is when the first signs of a restless, change-the-plan mood tend to show. The post-shadow runs until May 25, 2027, when Uranus returns to 5°41′ Gemini. With Jupiter and Mars retrograde as Uranus turns direct, growth plans and bold moves may still feel on hold in February.

The second period opens on September 15, 2027 at 9°57′ Gemini, with its shadow beginning May 29, 2027 at 5°55′ Gemini. Uranus then backs up to 5°55′ Gemini and turns direct on February 12, 2028. Its shadow ends on May 29, 2028 at 9°57′ Gemini. This time no eclipse falls in the period, so the turning points arrive without one beside them.

The surrounding retrogrades differ too. Pluto goes retrograde on May 8, 2027 and stays until October 17, 2027, so for a month Uranus and Pluto both ask you to look at what is buried and what needs to change. Neptune runs July 9 to December 15, 2027, Saturn August 9 to December 23, 2027, and Mercury a short October 7 to October 28, 2027. Saturn's presence puts limits and patience next to Uranus's urge to break away.
